Dwight E. Edwards

Once again D.E.Edwards builds a metaphorical conceit in which erotic and
esoteric twists are easily confused. Is it an ode to the free life in
wilderness or a hymn to self sacrifice in the green war? In this song,
the Elsie Dee Project comes through as a singing duet, and that6
certainly opens a door to a whole lot of musical possibilities.

Dwight E. Edwards

Deerest

A lonely hunter in the woods
Puts down his useless gun to rest
There in a meadow by a brook
A deer appears
Before he could aim at his prey
The deer was far away

A desperate hunter out of luck
Puts down is empty bag to pray
He spots the drinking deer, so near
The timing is good
Before the trigger was pulled
The deer had lept away

Where shall we meet again,
When should we quench our thirst
For the better and the worst?

Her golden hoofs were shining lights
She led him to a land so bright
Where nature’s flaws
Were out of sight such a delight
Before the hunter could run
The fun had just begun

They ran avoiding fallen trees
A raven told them save us please
Each one tied to the other’s needs
One train on two tracks
Before they got to the end
They were the dearest friends.

When shall we meet again
What will we gain from this game
With no claim to fame?
